Wireless ping spikes on one computer

I recently moved my gaming computer from the second floor to the basement because it is just too hot upstairs. I installed a Netgear wg311 v2 wireless card and everything seems to be working fine. However, when I ping the router via ping 192.168.2.1 -t, I notice that every 5 to 10 seconds the ping will be ~1000ms instead of 2 or 3 ms.

Every other computer in my house work fine, even my laptop that is sitting next to this computer right now.

Anyone have any ideas? Should I go buy a different wireless NIC?

Thanks!

If you have another computer right next to that one and it's fine, it's likely a problem with your card. Before buying another one, do you have another PC using wireless? If so, try swapping cards and see what happens. If the problems stay with the card, you know it needs to be replaced.
