I was in the market for a PCMCIA card and found this one. Maybe other would be interested.
The card uses Amtel technology.

I came across that one yesterday too. I was leery about the brand so I went looking to see what else was out there. At buy.com I found an SMC 2635W, which I already have, for $18.67 shipped free. But what's better is the $10 rebate. Can't really beat $8.67. The rebate expires on the 31st and has to be postmarked by the 14th.

US Robotics Wireless B+G Turbo PC Card available presently from eCost. Was at one point $39.99, now $42.00. Price seems to fluctuate a bit. Both prices listed are without the current $20.00 rebate offered by the manufacturer, making the end cost $19.99 to $22.00, respectively. The rebate purchase period expires March 31st.

Even at $22.00, simply a much better product, and certainly a much better brand (although I owned an SMC7004ABR for a number of years of flawless operation, until I sold it last year).

I may be confusing the name, but I think my company sometimes uses Amtel memory chips in our products. They always worked fine except for the one time they sent us the wrong chips to the board populating plant and botched an entire run.

Works like a charm!

It's a TechNew Wireless LAN CardBus Card IEEE 802.11b

This is ultra hot. Just received my order of two today. It's a generic AMD design, so driver support is no problem. 64/128 WEP. Only problem (relative) is that it's CardBus, so that means no support on ISA-based laptops. Pre-L100 Librettos are probably the most prevalant example of a non-CardBus system that people still use today.

FYI, Orinoco 802.11 cards are PCMCIA type II, or non-CardBus.

FYI I did a Windows Update and it found a update for the card. I downloaded it and then I couldn't connect to anything anymore. The program that comes with the program didn't load either. I had to rollback the driver. Anyone else experiance this problem? I was on Windows 2000 BTW.
