Wireless PCMCIA Card in DSL

Trying to get my Netgear WG511v2 to work in DSL and i cant seem to figure it out. Im new to linux and this all just seems like a different language.... Ive went through google but nothing seems to work. help me out people!

You first need to find out which chipset it is.

A search on the list maintained at linux-wless.passys.nl shows that its either a Marvell or a Prism chipset. I'm assuming its more than likely the Prism, but to be sure type the command lspci. It'll output a list of the hardware its identified.

In fact, go ahead and type iwconfig. If its a prism chipset then it should already be ready to use. So type iwconfig and see if anything has wireless extensions.

nah its a marvell. nd i switched over to puppy linux cuz i heard it automatically supported it but no go. nething i can do to load the drivers?

You need to install ndiswrapper and find the windows drivers for your wireless card. Then make sure ndiswrapper is set to load on startup.

The amount of work differs depending on which distribution you use. Here's one I found for Puppy Linux, not sure if its any good.
