Good evening,
I have an SMC wireless network running in the house (an SMC Access Point, an SMC Wireless PC card for my laptop, and an SMC Wireless PCI card for my desktop). The laptop works just fine in most cases, it's the desktop that I'm having trouble with.
I have a cable modem connection in my house too, so my SMC Access point connects to the Netgear RT314 router and all my wireless workstations now have Internet access + access to each workstation. However, I've noticed that my desktop doesn't have that great throughput compared to the laptop and also, the desktop loses 'connection' to the access point every so often.
Another point I should mention is that the desktop 'stutters' while it is accessing the access point/cable connection, meaning, when I am playing like Mp3's on my desktop, the music starts stuttering every 10-15 seconds. Is this normal?
If anyone can give me advice on how to optimize my wireless setup or what the problem may be with my desktop and the PCI wireless card, it would be much obliged. 🙂
Thanks!
