Hi ok so I need a head set and im in the market for 7.1 headset. I also need a good mic as well that is built in to headset as I plan on doing some video tutorial but I need a good mic with headset.

What is this head set going to be used for movies, games and tv shows and me be music.

I read that it better to have a wired solution but for my set up I think I would need an extension wire just to use it so I might go with Wireless?

As for my correct set up well im a wireless person all my gear wireless as I have my pc hooked up to 50inch plasma tv so I thought of a wireless headset would be amazing but I have read a bit mixed review out there so I have come here in search for help.

It meets all the audio specs. It is not wireless, however, that is really a personal choice. My own sense is that wired might be a bit more reliable. It's hard to beat Sennheiser for value.

Wired. I've noticed you don't get a true surround sound with wireless and anytime I've had wireless there's more interference then wired.

I use a MLG px22 turtle beach for console, pc, and mobile. It's not 7.1 but it's phenomenal audio and gives you a lot functionally and control.

I do have a Razer Kraken which is 7.1 and its got great sound and a retractable mic but just no way to control bass, mic, etc...

I love Wireless, using the Logitech G930 but I can understand inteference issues.

I bought the Corsair Vengeance 2100 wireless headset for work, because I was tired of the wires getting tangled up with my chair. Sound is decent, and so is the mic. There are no Mac drivers for surround so I can't comment on the 7.1.

Just a warning about the Corsair Vengeance headsets. Corsair still doesn't have any properly working Windows 8.1 drivers yet. So if you are using that OS, then Corsair headsets will be a problem.

I have the Vengeance 2000 and Corsair seems so freaking inept at fixing this driver issue, I'm thinking about selling mine and getting a Logitech G930 instead (I have to have wireless).
