Asus wireless card will only connect at 1mb and give me limited connection

I have other computers at my house on my wireless and wire. They are all working fine

Network is on WEP
Open Share

It finds the network and connects but only runs at 1mb speed use to run at 54mb connection. The connect always says good connect to excellent, It use to work fine before but now it's doing this?

Any info?

Say Limited Conectivity and Excellent connection with full bars but only 1mb speed on the wireless connection.

Make sure your computer is actually connecting to your router and not to another nearby router. This is a particularly common problem if you did not change the name of your router from the manufacturer's default and someone else nearby has the same brand of router. An easy test is to turn your router off (pull the power plug) temporarily and see if the problem computer gets disconnected. If not, then it is connecting to someone else's router and the best way to fix it is to change the name of your router to something unique.

Also, it is possible that you are connecting to your own router but you are using the wrong WEP key. The "Limited Connectivity" message frequently means that your computer is not authenticating properly with the router.

It's not related to your speed problem, but if possible you should use WPA encryption if you are at all concerned about the security of the network. WEP encryption is extremely easy to break.

I know I'm connecting to the correct router. I went into my www.routerlogin.com and set up everything.

If i use windows to connect or if i use the ASUS Wlan connection center both give me the same 1mb. I know the WEP key is correct. I guess ill try to change to WPA and see if that works.
any more info would be great.

Or better off try first for few minuted with No security.

If it is a Desktop get the Antenna from behind the Tower and out it above the system.

It connects WEP or WPA or nothing it says good connection but goes down to 1mb and not anything faster it's a ASUS 138g wireless card, it does the same thing in all 3 of my pcs. I have a slower Dlink card that runs at 11mb but it's slow, not as bad as the 1mb witch is like 14.4modem speed

I'm thinking that card is bad, whats a good wireless card? I was thinking something Intel? with good range, price is not a problem.

Is the antenna connected? The reason for the low speed is becuas of low signal to noise. Also make sure there are no other 2.4 devices near your client or access point, that causes a lot of noise.
