Wireless Noob=Question

Just set up the wireless router, then got a USB adapter for the wife. Connected just fine and was really painless on both installs. Now, I have a laptop I want to connect. I was thinking about one of the USB wireless adaptors that sort of look like a thumb drive or flash memory key. Any yays or nays I should worry about with that? The one on my wife's computer is a small "base station" looking piece (Belkin Wireless USB Adaptor v.2000). The router is a Netgear Wireless Router MR814 v.2.
I realize I could use PCMCIA card; just exploring other options and I like the small size of the USB device. The type I am looking at can be found here, although I have heard some bad stories about Linksys and their wireless products.
Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

For short distance it will work just like th PCMCIA.

For long distance you will have to buy with the idea that it is returnable if it does not working well.

BTW. A small USB device will stick out more than PCMCIA device.

Yeah, I kinda figured that but with the PCMCIA device, I would probably be taking it out when packing up the system and then having to reinstall it when I was back home, etc. With the USB, I'd just plug and unplug.
