Wireless Nics in ad-hoc ?

I mgiht be setting up a wireless network at my aunt's house but had a cpl of questions.

One pc already has a cable connection , is adding a wireless 802.11b usb adapter to each pc and using sygate to share internet a decent solution ?

Looks like 2 adapters and a router or access point can easily hit 700 $ Can which is quite pricey .

I'm also concerned about the walls , the 2 pc's arent very far apart <5M , but are seperated by a couple of walls , how does an 802.11b adhoc solution compare to router/adapters ?

If they're not far apart then a wall or two won't matter much, as long as they're just drywall and 2x4s. I go through walls & floors before the signal fades too much. (BTW, I'm using infrastructure through a router...but a signal's a signal.)

Don't know about sygate.

Good luck.

Judging from the price you quote, you probably are not in the US.

You need:
One Wireless Cable/DSL Router (current holidays prices about $150).

One Wireless Card (about$100).

Going your way: two Cards $200 + Sygate (Sygate Home network is trial software, not free), comes to the same price.
