wireless never reconnects upon bootup

Got a new T400 with XP for work at home. My SSID is broadcasting and I'm using a WEP key so I have my preferred network listed in there with those settings. On every bootup, it never connects on its own. I have to go into its network properties --> wireless networks and check the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" box. Only then will the preferred networks box become active, and then it'll connect to wireless fine. How do I get it to do keep that box to stay checked on every bootup?

Reset all your network settings and rejoin to your network.

What do you mean by reset my network settings? For the wireless on the laptop, there's a "repair" option that I just tried and it said it couldn't connect. My ethernet connection though works fine as plug & play, but I'd rather use wireless.

I've also joined it to my network name and rebooted, problem persists.

Did you mean reset my router?

Just wanted to update with the solution. Thinkvantage Access Connections was taking over handling everytime at bootup. It basically handles location profiles and you'd be able to switch easily if going from one connection to another. I tried disabling it but windows still wouldn't pick it up on its own everytime. I re-enabled Access Connections and just put my wifi login info in that. It works perfectly fine, especially because I'm just home all the time anyway.

Your original vendor Wireless solution is probably loading too.

Look at the startup and the services and mae sure that it is disabled.
