Wireless networking with and old HP e-pc

My father has wireless in his house, and wants to be able to get his HP e-pc online. That computer is currently on the third floor. His wireless router (verizon fios actiontecn mi424wr) is on the first floor. The HP e-pc doesnt have any expansion slots. Therefore the only option seems to be sometype of external card/access point etc. Can someone point me in the most cost effecive way of doing this. dont really want to spend more than 50 bucks. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!! Total distance isnt more than i'd say 25-35 feet from his router

I'm not personally familiar with the router you mentioned.
A great place to determine what you need to get the results you want is our local JACKMDS's website.
How to extend the distance of your wireless network

Do some research on the Verizon router to see what your options are (i.e., can you do WDS with it?).

Since your Dad's pc doesn't have any expansion slots does he already have a wireless NIC?

If not you will want to look at a wireless USB card in addition to whatever method you go with for extending your coverage.

After doing a little more research tonight the USB has tons of potential. Thanks to all of you for your replies.
