I have a laptop with a wifi card, my desktop has ADSL via an internal pci dsl modem which my phone line plus into. I want to be able to setup my daughters computer and my laptop to be able to share the dsl connection wirelessly. Can anyone tell me the easiest and most cost effective way to do this? Thx

You could simply get a wireless card for the desktop and have the two wireless cards running in "ad hoc" mode (computer to computer connection - no wireless router needed). Enable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on the host computer, and that's about it.

A wireless router would be the easiest way to go, but you're somewhat limited because you have an internal DSL model.

He needs to enable ICS, how does he do so?

Also how does he make the system think his setup is a router and not a hub, I am not familure with this way of wireless and he is having problems connecting, I thought it might be because it saw the system trying to create another IP like a Hub instead of like a router

have you enable adhoc mode so that ur desktop and laptop can see each other? after you've done that...then just enable internet sharing....then you should be good to go....

yeah i did and my laptop sees it but I cant connect, the laptop says these settings cannot be applied blah blah. Is this not possible since my dsl modem is internal? If the desktop and laptop have wifi I should be able to.
