Anybody have any first-hand experience with any Wifi adapters that worked out-of-the-box with FC3? A colleague bought a Linksys A/B/G PCI card (Atheros-based) and probably doesn't know enough about Linux to get MADwifi working... and I'd rather not be the inevitable one to have to resolve this for him (he's not very conveniently located).

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I have not had any luck at all getting my wifi card to work with Fedora Core 3. However, if you go to linuxquestions.org they have a database of hardware that is supported by the different linux distro's.

Go with Ubuntu, the Netgear MA521 and Intel Pro 2200BG worked for me. Ive tried FC3 and Suse 9.1 and couldnt get wireless working properly. I got as far as getting Suse to recognize the card.

MADWIFI is incredibly easy to set up*.

* If you have the kernel sources and if you're only using no better than WEP. Though that last one may have changed; my old laptop fried both of my old Atheros-based PCMCIA cards.

Only using WEP, and I really don't want to get into too much compilation. I could handle it but the point is not to have to involve me at all in the solution.

I also want to see about working within FC3 instead of any other distros like Ubuntu since, again, I would have to be the one installing the new OS.
