Wireless Networking is pretty cool.

Just setup my microsoft wireless network kit and connected at 11Mbs. Paying CS and other online games seems pretty stable. Anyone wanna comment on this? I was wondering if bluetooth would be any faster than the current Wireless cards. As you might have guessed, I have no idea what is Bluetooth's limitations are. :D

bluetooth is pretty slow, from what i understand. Its main advantage is that it uses way less power so is more ideal for pda's and cell phones and things like that with limited powersupply.

lol, i was just about to post a similar message. i just got a wireless card for my new Inspirion 4150 and most of my school's (UT Austin) campus is wireless. This is sooo much better than the p3 machines they have in the computer labs :)

I just setup my new e740 this weekend (Pocket PC with built-in 802.11b.) I must say I never realized how cool Terminal Services was until now...

If I understand Bluetooth correctly, it's measured in feet of range (short range personal network for instance hotsyncing your PDA without wires in front of your PC) WiFi is more robust, longer distances, faster...

I'm looking for a bluetooth headset & USB dongle to use with my Sony/Ericson T68i, it's what I'll prob spend my MS Holiday $ on if MS ever gets around to issuing them...

I'm pretty happy with my M$ kit too. Bought mine off someone on the FS/FT board here...

Only gripe: I don't have broadband, so using the base station is a bit of a pain, but that's because the system is designed with broadband in mind. Still worthwhile. :)

Really like it, and like not having @#$%@^ blue Cat5 running around my apartment. :D

It's cool, but I still don't trust it... cables are a bigger pain in the ass (only physically) but they have to be more reliable, and are alot faster... not to mentoin more secure. I'm staying with my 100mbit CAT5 that's for sure!

I have an el cheapo Belkin WiFi Router/Hub, 3 desktops & 1 notebook connected through the WiFi, and one directly to the hub.

It's cool as heck, being able to surf from the couch, although my wife really hates it...

It's nice, but not for gaming. I was playing Dark Age of Camelot on a 802.11b setup for a little while (before I ran cable), and I would consistently get a heavy lag burst every 3 minutes or so - like clockwork. 15 seconds of lag. I played some with the beacon timings and such, and reduced it a bit, but it's still there. I don't use my wireless setup anymore unless I need to.

I have Microsoft MN-610 WiFi kit for desktop PC's (USB adapter) and it has worked awesome with my Dell TrueMobile 1150 (which is a rebadged Orinoco Gold card which is considered to be THE BEST).

Even with 128bit WAP, and all the security features turned on it's FAST.
