Wireless Networking for laptop

I am wanting to get my laptop on my homelan so I can share files, printer, net etc. I have a linksys 4 port cable Dsl router with 2 cpus hooked up. I have seen several different vendors selling this, SMC (cheapest), Linksys, 3com, Lucent. What is the difference in them really and whats a good recommended brand. The linksys remote point setup is about 100 more than the SMC for instance. Any observations would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't really researched it that much, but from my understanding, some of them are just wireless points, while others have routers included with the wireless point. I don't have a base station right now so I can't really give you any feedback from my experience. However, if you are going to be getting a wireless card, I heard the new Orinoco is the best right now because it doesn't transfer the security key or something like that. I'm not too sure. It is also able to switch between a couple of protocols...

For more information, I suggest you check out DSL Reports they have a bunch of reviews on all the hardware. A lot of feedback from users too.

I'm currently using an Orinoco Silver card within CMU's wireless network.
