Wireless networking blues

Not being able to leave well enough alone, I decided it was time to migrate from a D-Link D-713P (11b) to a D-624 (11g) wireless router. Prior to this brilliant decision, it was experiencing no problems with wither the wired or wireless computers on my network.

I tried to install the the D-624, been unable to get the WAN indicator to light. Ah ha, a cross cable is needed?!!! Tried that, but no luck. Maybe the unit is DOA.

OK, back to the D-713P. Reinstalled that and have lost all the connections to that router too. Now it gets strange. Within IE6 I entered the address of the router (http://xxx.xxx.0.1) and neither of the two wired connections see the router. I took each of the wired computers, bypassed the router, and was unable to get a web connection directly from the modem, even though the modem "activity" indicator was flashing. I took a Compaq laptop and was also unable to connect, but I took a new Dell and was able to get on the net. I guess that means the cable modem is OK. I dawns on me now that the next thing to do might be to wire the Dell into the D-713P and see if I can still connect.

However, my web access is now only through my work site, so any help/insight into these problems would be most welcome!!!!

Is the M2 light flashing?? If it is hold the reset button for 10 seconds and see if that clears the problem up... If that doesnt work try the tech support... I had a simular problem after i updated fireware last week...

Nope, M2 is not doing anything. I'll try the prolonged reset this weekend...as well as a shotgun if I can't otherwise figure it out...
