Wireless Network

My wireless network stopped letting me print to my desktop printer. This was working fine the other day and now all of a sudden I have no printing capabilities. I am using a Linksys Router and both systems are on the same workgroup and the SSID is also the same for both computers. Both systems are running XP Home SP2. I can access my laptop from the desktop but I can?t access the desktop from the laptop and I can?t figure out why, nothing has changed that I know of and I have run virus checks and nothing there either. Also both Windows firewalls are enabled with file and print sharing excluded. I deleted the printer from the laptop and now can?t even find it on the network, but before I deleted it, the message under the shared printer icon was: Unable to connect.

Not sure if I missed anything here and any help is appreciated.

just for troubleshooting...turn off the firewalls and see if it works

if so, then something needs to change on the firewalls.

Yea, I guess that will be easier than a delete and re-install of all the peripherals on both machines. It just kills me how this stuff just happens out of the blue.

If anyone else has any ideas, they are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well I have narrowed the problem down to Norton System Works 2006. I could see my laptop from the desktop but not the other way around. Well last night I disabled Norton to the max and was able to view my desktop drives from the laptop. I just don?t know what feature is blocking my C: drive. It was late and I didn?t have time to start switching back on security features to see what the culprit is. If anyone is familiar with System Works 2006 and can save me some trouble, it would greatly be appreciated. When I get home from work today, I will tinker around and see if I can find the culprit myself.

Thanks for any replies.

OK, the problem is Norton System Works 2006, Internet Worm Security feature. It totally blocked my desktop from being view by other computers on the network. I had to disable this feature, and even running live update did nothing to correct the situation.

Just a heads up for anyone with wireless problems.
