Wireless network with Imac and a PC Laptop Question

My sister just got a new pc laptop for her birthday and wants to get a wirless router so she can use her laptop anywhere in her house. However, my brother in law has a 2 year old IMac and that obviously is where the base station would be connected. My question is how can I connect the two? What I mean by that is that I just got a Microsoft mn-700 and I had to install software on the machine to set it up. Obviously the software wont install on an IMac if I got her a MN-700 as well, and wouldnt be able to set up the basestation.

Are maybe DLinks or Belkins better to do this or what? I am open to any suggestions as I have no clue how to go about doing this.

Thanks!

Nearly all routers can be configured by using a web browser. Just point the browser to the IP address of the router (usually 192.168.0.1 or something similar).

Any software you install onto your computer might make configuring the router easier by using a wizard instead of a webpage, but shouldn't be necessary to the setup of the router.

Hope this helps!

Yes, get a router that has a web configuration interface. Personally, I think the idea of needing custom software to configure a home router is silly, pointless, and counterproductive (even the Apple Airport configuration utility).

what is a cheap yet quality router that does have web configuration?

Does this one from newegg that I can pick up for 32 bucks after MIR? (It is a netgear).
