Wireless network problems

Here's my problem,

I just purchased a new laptop with WiFi capabilities and installed an Access Point. The problem is that my wireless card tries to communicate with my neighbor's Access Point causing my connection to drop constantly as the connection bounces from my access point to my neighbor's. Is there a way for me to limit the communication with my access point alone?
