Wireless Network Problems

I can't seem to figure out what's going on with my wireless network but I seem to have problems staying online AOL for more than 5-10 minutes at a time. It'll just log me off and reconnect me. The funny thing is that I know this is not a problem with my wireless connection because I can run downloads and such without any type of connection interruption. My current setup is a Netgear MA401 wireless card with a Netgear MR814.

Anyone else having these types of problems? Any help would be great! Thanks!

I got a 401 and 814, they work great together. 802.11b protocol is very sensitive (in my experience) to other devices using the 2.4ghz range (ie: cordless phones). anyway, try changing the channel and see what you get.

I'm confused...if you know that its not a problem w/ your wireless connection, then why is the Topic named "Wireless Network Problems"? Sounds like its an issue w/ AOL not the wireless segment.

hmm, i suppose the title isn't the best title for the problem...

i was just wondering if anyone else here has problems with aol constantly disconnecting them when they're on a wireless network.

Are you dialing up from a PC and sharing it out and using ICS or something to connect w/ the laptop? Give us a little more info on your setup. Maybe AOL is disconnecting because the PC sharing the connection is idle?

I am currently using adelphia powerlink as my internet connection with the netgear mr 814 sharing the connection. There's no specific computer that is sharing the connection.

Your problem might be in the powerline connection, make sure that your power isn't peaking --- turn off all extra appliances and make sure that they aren't causing interfearance which may cause the connection to be lost intermittently
