Wireless Network not showing up on friends laptop

We are here in the library, im on the wireless network fine... But for some reason, my friends laptop dosent even show the access point....

Any ideas?

Make sure his wireless adapter is enabled and working properly. Many laptop computers have a button or switch that will turn the wireless adapter off completely in order to save battery power when the wireless is not being used.

MAC filtering could also be a possibility. There are several possibilities but we'd need to have more specifics
