Wireless Network interfearing for wireless mouse

My roomate is having a strange issue. Any time files are being transfered over the wireless network, it interfears with his wireless mouse(Logitech G7). The mouse movement gets very slow and unresponsive. As soon as the transfer is done, movement is normal again. Temporarily plugged in a corded USB mouse, and of course the mouse movement is normal. Has anyone seen this problem or know of a solution? I did a search, but there are limited results, and no answers.

The problem has gotten worse since we got cable internet, and the router(D-Link DIR-655) had to be moved closer to his PC. Originaly it was 30 feet away, and giving the problem only when files were being transfered to/from his computer, not it does it during any LAN access from any of our computers.

bluetooth and 802.11b/g wireless are on the same frequency and can/do interferre with each other.

I realize this..but is there any solution without going to a wired mouse?

Move the AP farter away from the mouse transmitter. Or change channels on AP to 1, 6, 11.

new to networking, whats an AP? and how do you change channels?

Access Point. It is the device that supplies wireless network service to wireless clients. A wireless router contains an access point and a router to share internet among multiple clients.

If you have an access point or a wireless router you should be able to change the chennel to something that doesn't cause or is impacted by interference. Try 1, 6 or 11 and see what works best.

currently its set to 6, so if i weer to change it to 1, or 11, my internet would still be the same but the problem will be fixed?

It depends. You can't predict what a channel change would do without sophisticated equipment to understand your wireless environment. All you can do is try them and see what happens.

In all honesty, almost all wireless performance problems are solved with changing channels. It can be night and day.

I always have this problem with my bluetooth mouse for my laptop. I had to learn to live with it. Changing channels may help but you still may run into interference. The 2.4ghz frequency is a crowded one, expect these kinds of issues.
