Wireless Network Help

I am trying to set up file sharing on my wireless network. i have a home built desktop running xp pro and a dell laptop running xp home. the desktop is connected to my netgear wireless router through the lan cable and my laptop is connected wirelessly. both computers are able to get online perfectly fine and can ping the router, but for some reason they cannot see eachother. I have tried pinging in both directions and neither one can see the other. I have long since dissabled the windows firewall, but that didn't seem to help anything either. Any suggestions on further things i can try to get my network to work would be greatly appreciated.
