wireless network help

i am new here so please be patient.
prob: can see my laptop in network workgroup but i cant gain access. and when i try to view work groups on my laptop i get ms home not accessible, see admin for permission network path not found.

i did: set up through wireless wizard. did home network wizard i even put the info on s/d card the way it says and still same. all file share options are checked.

i can surf but no file or printer share.

i have. desktop
xp box with sp2<added after prob started to see if it would help>
lynksys wireless g router
cable modem

laptop
same as above but 802.11b/g

i am pretty good getting around a pc but try to be spacific.< you dont have to say click start go to prog and such>
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Network Forum.

If your Laptop can gain Access to the Internet then it is just a Sharing issue.

Otherwise go over the Wireless Setting.

Past the initial setting, do not use the Wizards any more; you should learn how to configure manually.

i tried those links and could not get my network going. my pc sees itself in network places and the same for my laptop. they just dont see each other. very lost here . would like a step by step without the wizards, if you could start over from scratch. any ideas?
