Ok so after years and years I finally have the need to get a basic home network going. First off all I have currently is a Time Warner Cable Modem connected to my PC in my room. I have a second PC out in an office area for my wife that needs internet access now. (wired is not possible)

I am also having smart phone internet connection issues here at the house, and would rather connect via WiFi with the phones for a better connection when needed. On top of that, I am also planning on getting a Popcorn Hour c-200 NMT and this will be in the room with my PC and I would want that hard wired along with the PC still.

So, now that you see the need for the wired and wireless access, what all do I need to be looking into getting?

I don't fully understand the networking stuff, wireless g/n/etc. From what research I have done, n is the best and fastest?

What I believe I need at this time is the following, and please correct me if I am wrong and need to delete, or add some things!

1 Wireless-n Router w/ Switch (4port i guess)
1 Wireless-n USB Adapter
Some Cat5 Cable

And as far as hook-up, it would go modem>router>hardwire to PC and popcorn hour through the back ports on router? Wireless adapter on PC on other side of house?

This is what I have been looking at purchasing as well so far:

What you suggests will do the job.

One thing to be aware of is though that the range on USB type wifi adaptors is not great and if your other computer is a fair distance away you maybe best getting one with an external antenna.
