I'm having some issues with the wireless network I set up in my new apartment. Here's the situation...
My main system is running a Linksys WUSB11 rev2.8 usb wireless adapter.
The second is a laptop running a D-Link Air DWL-650
The wireless router is a Netgear WGT624 rev2
The problem i'm running into is whenever the laptop tries to connect, it drops the connection for the main machine for some reason. I've double checked on the drivers for both systems, and they're all up to date. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled just to make sure it wasn't a driver issue. I've tried every channel on the router to see if that was the problem, but its' still there. And on a side note, there's no other wireless connections in the entire complex, so it's not zero config getting confused either.
The only other thing left that i know of is to completely disable the zero config util through services.mcs and use the wireless adapters utility, but for some weird reason the utility for the usb adapter will not install on my machine. The actual drivers are installed just fine, but when i double click the utility install, I just get a medium sized purple window flash for about 2 seconds, and then closes. It puts a shortcut to the utility in the start menu, but when i try to launch the utility it says there's a few missing dll's (obviously, since it won't install right?)
Sooooo, i'm not sure what that's all about. It's the latest XP drivers from linksys so they should be working. So since I can't use the adapters utility, i'm forced to stick with the zero config (which I think *might* be part of the problem with the dropping connection).
Either that, or its a setting I need to change in the router, since it's dropping the connection when another computer is trying to connect to it. Also, i'm using 128-bit WEP. I'm getting a constant excellent signal on both systems, as it's a fairly small apartment. I'm not sure what other information you need to help me out, so let me know if i missed something.
