Wireless Network Connection Problem

I have a minipci 802.11B card (In a Toshiba 1135-S155) made by Agere aka Orinoco. I am trying to get it working with a Proxim Harmony 802.11B Access Point. I have had tons of problems with this. I use to have a Belkin 802.11b pcmcia card and it worked perfect. My bro has a Trendnet pcmcia card and it too works perfect. I can get a signal and IP. But I cannot actually do anything internet or network related. I have tried many different programs to try and get it working (Boingo, XP built in software, Proxim software, toshiba software). When I am just using the XP software and nothing else, it can send packets but will not receive them. When I use both the Proxim and XP software I can receive packets. Even after that I still cannot do anything internet related. I don't know where to find the latest drivers or firmware so I am just using the XP default drivers. Here is the minipci card info:

Adapter Name: ORiNOCO Wireless LAN PC Card (3.3 volt)
Device: PCMCIA\LUCENT_TECHNOLOGIES-WAVELAN/IEEE-911F\1
MAC Address: 00-02-2d-59-7d-9a
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Version: 7.43.0.9
Driver Date: 7-1-2001

the problem is somewhat fixxed. To get it too work I need to unplug and then plug in the access point. That is a bit of a hassle.. so does anyone know why I neeed to do that. What does it do? Anyway to fix it?
