Wireless network card....should I buy G or B version?

I don't want to spend extra $$ just to buy the hype, so is there a real benefit to go with G instead of B?
Another thing, should I just buy cable (much cheaper) or go wireless? I only have a desktop so going wireless is pretty much meaningless to me...but it sure looks cool with that antenna on the back....mmm...

Hey, if you want to look cool and spend the money, more power to you.

Just stay with the wired.

If you're planning on transfering large files between computers get a G but if you're only surfing the web B will do ya fine.

Well, here is another question...my housemate has the cable modem and the router in his room..he has a laptop with wireless whatever built-in already...so technically...do we still need more equipment? Because I was thinking if we move the modem or router to my room then we both can get connected..

maybe cause this ain't off-topic enough.

just use the B. cable modem doesn't really even support faster transfers, so getting the G would be pointless. unless you were willing to shell out the big bucks to get that other service, but i forgot what it was called

I think my housemate might just want to get even with me by getting me to spend some $$...so can anyone answer the question above?

Agreed. 802.11g will NOT allow you to surf the internet any faster. We have 802.11b and it's very fast.

I would highly recommend the Dell TrueMobile 1150 which is an excellent card at an affordable price.
