Wireless Network Brands

I have to put the wireless router in the basement where the cable modem comes in because the cable company could not figure out how to get it to work upstairs. It will need to go through two floors.

What I want to know is what brand would I be best off with?

Wireless in the basement is already a strike against any product, then 2 floors is another..... For the cost effective and solid area I like proxim/orinoco, but in your case I'd be sure there is a return policy......

I would call the cable company and demand they send another tech out and inspect your house. If that fails, get a handyman who can lay one ethernet cable from the basement to the 2nd floor.
Then you can leave the modem in the basement and run the wire upstairs.

As for wireless, I would go with Proxim stuff (Orinoco) or if you want to spend some more $$, cisco.
