I'm wanting to set up a wireless network at my house. I have a DSL connection through Sprint/Earthlink that I obviously want to share. I have 2 desktop computers that will always be part of the network, with the occasional visiting laptop.

The first computer will connect to the router with a cable, and the second computer will connect with a wireless connection.

For the router I think I've decided on the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54. From what I've read it's a good reliable router even with the stock firmware, which is a plus because I don't want to flash it. I'll still take recommendations on a router though if there is something better

I need recommendations on a wireless PCI card for the other desktop though. Should I just go with the matching Buffalo PCI card or is there something better you guys recommend?

Thanks

I was a little wary about the flashing with my WHR-G54S, too, but it's definitely worth it. You'll agree with me when you see the interface for the stock firmware. God, what a work... (I assume the firmwares will be similar)

i agree. the buffalo stock interface is seriously ugly. dd-wrt looks decent enough, and you can change the color scheme :p

The Buffalo PCI is a good card and works well.

However, No Vista Drivers (a similar problem with many other Brands Wireless components that got to market a while ago).

So if Vista is in the horizon find a Brand name card that has drivers for Vista.

Differences between brand name Wireless cards are not as significant as between Routers.
