Hi. My wireless connection keeps dropping me ever now and again and it is really annoying. Today when I opened up the windows wireless tool (not my choice to use it my wireless won?t work if I use the dlink tool that came with it which is really annoying) there was a second wireless network listed that was unprotected and I was even able to join into it. My question is this, is this second network likely to be knocking me off my wireless network and is there some way to send a message to this person to tell them to secure there connection?

just change your channel on your ap to 1, 6 or 11 and use the one that works best for you.

I believe its all ready on 6. I have opened up the windows wireless config and told the other network to only connect on demand instead of when in range. This might help my problem but I will try to change the channel as well as get a bigger aerial which should hopefully give me better signal coverage.

If when you are getting disconnected it says that is has connected to a different network, then yes, that is what is causing you to lose your connection. Otherwise, if the 2 networks are on the same channel, they may be interfering with each other, and causing a poor signal. Turn off automatic connecting to unsecured networks, delete the profile for your neighbor's network, and change your wireless router to a different channel.

i believe the setting is
"automatically conect to non-preferred networks"
and i agree, make sure that is unchecked
