Wireless Net Issue with Final Fantasy 11

I'm using the Netgear MR814 v1 with 4 total computers running on the network at any given time. Previously when playing games like Everquest, I had no problems or drop offs. I recently built a new rig and am using the Asus A8V wireless edition's included wireless network card. The signal was 98% and while browsing the net etc I never get any drop offs. However, when entering in Final Fantasy 11, it will randomly drop connection and the network up time will reset. Its as if the entire connection just resets itself.

I have gone into the router and set up port fowarding as Playonline has suggested. I have assigned a static network IP to the computer. I have also adjusted my RTS Threshold = 500, and Fragmentation Threshold = 1000. However, I was still having random drop off problems. So I thought it might be the NIC card or these packet thresholds. I went out and got another NIC card and tried that route. I completely disabled the RTS and Fragmentation thresholds on the new NIC card (the Asus A8V card wouldnt allow me to disable, just adjust values). I am receiving a 96% connection rate now using the new NIC card.

I also rolled the Nvidia 6800U driver back to 61.73 rather then the new XX.76 in case it was a video issue.
But I don't think it is video because all other games play fine, although they aren't online games. The run locally.

So far I'm getting a more stable connection to FF11 with the D-link card, but the game will freeze like it would before randomly. But the wierd thing is, I wont get booted completely off. Instead it just freezes, and comes back, unlike before where it would freeze and completely lose connection and giving a POL Error - XXXX you have lost connection etc..

A friend who built the exact same rig, item for item is also having the same issues. He has made the same adjustments as I, but is still having drop offs, even more frequently then I. He hasn't changed out his NIC card but all other adjustments have been done.

Is it the Netgear router that is having issues? Should we completely change the router out??

Any suggestions or resolutions would be greatly appreciated.

Anybody have any idea what it could be?? Is it compatibility issues between router and card?? Should it be consistent in brand name??

there's an option when you first login to Playonline under Network Settings , something like "Check network activity". Try turning that on and see if it makes a difference.
