According to Wiki, the range on a new N router should be about double the range of a normal G router (which is what I have right now).

I was wondering if the extra range still applies if your computers are still using wireless-G cards/adapters.

I don't follow .N stuff, mainly because it isn't a standard.

But from what I've read about the technology .G clients would still be at the limitations of 802.11g protocol/management itself. Meaning not much range improvement. Probably similar to when you have B clients on a G wireless system the performance goes to crap.

The better range with .11n is kind of confusing with how it is being presented. Now, that I have said that, you should see more consistent coverage over the area that is currently being covered by your current .11 AP. This will affect all clients connecting to the AP.
