I want a wireless mouse/keyboard for my internet surfing daughter. She wants to sit on the couch and type or work on a large desk so wireless is the way to go.

Everyone recommends mx duo but is the the current best? (and by best I mean works well, doesn't eat batteries, doesn't lag, works from across a small room) because there are a lot of new products out there. No laser pinpoint accuracy needed nor is she a gamer. She likes her wired logitech..so MX, LX or microsoft something? I'd really appreciate some user experience. I read some reviews but I tend to value experience here more. thnx

I have the wireless MX700. Let me tell ya, it is awesome. The battery lasts for days without having to be recharged. The reception is also awesome. The receiever sits on top of my desk with a bunch of other clutter and the mouse is on a pullout kb tray and I have never had any issues. I am using a Logitech wired multimedia keyboard and love it, no use for a wireless kb right now.

Yup, the MX mice are currently the best. I've used both the MX700 and MX1000 mice, and like both of them. In terms of battery life, the MX700 was good, but I could run the battery out with about 20 hours worth of use (spread over a couple days, so there is also some downtime). The MX1000 has a much, much better battery, which I've never seen get below 3 bars after I charged it, even after leaving it uncharged for several days. There is supposedly a lag problem when picking up and putting down the MX1000 (i.e. it takes a second to reinitialize when set down), but I've honestly never noticed it.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen a keyboard/mouse combo with the MX1000 yet, but you can buy a wireless keyboard seperate and just have two recievers (my current setup). Buying a combo with an MX700 is a cleaner solution, and probably cheaper and definately good enough, but I still love my MX1000 and don't begrudge having to buy a seperate keyboard for it.
