Wireless + laptop + university.

My university recently installed a wireless network on the campus. In thier instructions for setting up a laptop, they said to use a Cisco Aironet 350 PC card. The instruction also has LEAP instructions to login to thier network.

My problem(?) is I have a Orinoco Gold card in my laptop. Is it possible to use my card or do I have to use a Aironet card?

You should be able to mix and match cards. However, several things have to match:

Same standard, i.e. 802.11b
Same work group name
Same encryption standard and key (if used)
Same channel

I figured as much.

In thier instructions, I need to login with my id and password from the university. Just wondering if the Orinoco software does that. Couldn't find LEAP anywhere on orinoco's site. Ohwell, I'll test it and see.
