Wireless laptop to dsl router

Just got a nice wireless router. (lightning strike fried my dsl modem, bellsouth gave me a nice wireless to replace it)

So I'm trying to get my laptop to connect to it. The signal stength is very strong. But it says limited or no connectivity. The details say that the network did not assign a network address.

I appreciate it.

Could be an encryption issue. Can you log into the routers admin page? If not then you'll need to call your provider.

heh, how would I do that? I got no software or anything with this. (unlike my old dsl modem)

I feel like such a newbie.

I wonder if a WEP password is enabled on the router? It's asking for one from the laptop even though I disabled it on the laptop. (can't find the WEP settings from the desktop) I get good signal strength and connect but it says no connectivity and the laptop doesn't get asigned an IP.

I did get it to connect once... I entered in all the ip,mask and dns information displayed in the desktop into the laptop instead of setting it to automatically find an IP. Connected without a problem. But no internet.

Yeah, how can I log onto the router?

I appreciate it.

Associating to the Access Point doesn't mean your getting data through it. Definitely sounds like an encpryption problem. Call your provider.
