Wireless LAN extended...

Could someone in theory do the following:

-802.11b access point with super duper antenna @ User B's residence. Hooked up to LAN from DSL connection.
-802.11b adapter with super duper antenna @ User A's residence.

User A is in a "rural area" (no DSL or cable available), but is less than 6KM's from User B, who has DSL. I have heard of distances up to 10KM with a really good antenna for 802.11b.

So... the goal: UserA will have wireless access to the Internet via User B.

I am tired, so I may have missed a few things, but I think you get the jist of things.

Opinions? Thanks

I recall reading few months ago about school project of a guy that stretched it to 7Km.

He used 2 Linksys WAP11 in Bridged Connection, and very Highly Directional Antennae that he constructed himself.

He had to put the Antennae on towers to compensate for the distance (Planet Earth is not flat).

To make sure that the two Antennae are in line you have to use survey tools since you can not count on visual alignment

Yeah, if it's line of sight it should work. With the cheaper equipment it will likely be harder, though. Something like the 3com bridge is rated for that distance where the WAP11's are rated for like 2000 feet outdoors.
