Wireless Keyboard/Mouse Recomendations?

Honestly, I never understood the appeal of wireless keyboards. I love my MX700 wireless mouse, particularly since it has the charging base that the MX500 was lacking. I always hated fighting with the cord on my older mice.

What's so great about having a wireless keyboard? I find it impossible to type on my lap, for example. The mouse has a charging base, but what do you do with the keyboard? I would hate swapping batteries in the keyboard at least as much as I did with the MX500 mouse.

Wireless Keyboards, all much of a muchness really.
Wireless Mouse. You need to ask? Its a MX700. Not sure on MX900.

Normally I would agree, but space has become an issue for me and I have to place my tower in a strange position. The keyboard wire is pulled tight, so I'm looking for a way out of that.

I've got the MX700 and it's a great mouse. It performs great in games. However the batteries make it pretty heavy. I game and use my computer alot and found that it gave me a sore shoulder. Now I use a MX500 for gaming and the MX700 for everything else as the Mouseware software lets me do this.

uh...

The MX500 is a wired mouse.

I've got the Microsoft Bluetooth set.

I've had a few problems setting it up, think I've finally got it working good though.

A couple of things I don't like overly much:

Can't use keyboard when computer boots, so I have to plug-in a wired keyboard to mess with the BIOS settings

They go into sleep mode pretty quickly.

As for response, I can't tell a difference when I'm playing Halo. Overall, not too bad a set, I like the layout of the mouse and the keyboard for the most part.

I heard that the bluetooth MS set suffers from poor responce times in fast games.
Whats your take on it darkswordsman17 ?

I use a Microsoft Cordless Elite. I like it, it's very comfortable. Its the one with the fake leather keyboard rest built into it. The keyboard is PS2 the mouse is USB (the connectors to the base station) so all the sleep/power management functions work perfectly (in WinXP)

are wireless products as responsive as corded ones? this would be really important for gaming

Just hooked up my Logitech MX duo and keyboard is very responsive, with no lag whatsoever. Played CMR4 using the keyboard in front of my HTPC, and it performed just as good as a wired keyboard. The mouse I assume will work just as great too, but haven't tried any FPS games yet with it.

I have the Logitech MX Duo and love it. I am no longer fighting with the blankety-blank mouse and keybord cables. Space in the vicinity of my computer is quite limited, and everything kept getting tangled up with the cables.

I was under the impression that Logitech's design overcame response problems exhibited by other similar units. But I'm not really a gamer, so I'm in no position to relate any firsthand experience.

I have a Logitech wireless keyboard. It's nice for me since I can toss the keyboard anywhere and not worry about wires. Batteries aren't a problem because they last almost forever, more than 10 months at least. I only changed the batteries once, besides the set of included batteries. That was at least 2 years ago!

I actually have a wired mouse since I can tuck it away somewhere and not notice it if I need space.

I haven't noticed any problems with response. I haven't played any really fast games such as Unreal 2K4 but, Halo and everything else works fine.

I would personally recommend either the non-Bluetooth MS or Logitech Cordless Duo. Nothing really serious, have just had some nagging problems (everyonce in a while the keyboard will lose its connection (might be hitting the power button on accident) and I'll have to go back and reconnect it through software (its a simple thing, takes about 20 sec.). I like the shape of the mouse a lot (I just wish the side buttons were a little larger) and the keyboard is great. The other little problem is it goes into hibernation I think too quickly. I haven't used the Bluetooth aspect of it for anything other than the mouse and keyboard, so I can't really comment on that aspect of it. I got mine for $70 off of Amazon.
