Any suggestions? I am running a Netgear 814v2 router, with the latest firmware. The laptop is an IBM w/ a Intel minipci card (dunno model). The desktop is running a USB 802.11b card, model 1120 I believe. It also has the latest drivers installed.

The desktop drops the internet connection every hour or so at random times and I hvae to disconnect it and reconnect it to get it to work again. Also, sometimes it has problems finding the network at all. It sees it but will not let me connect. The card is set to 64bit WEP encryption, OPEN setting. Any ideas?

yup..unchecked on both...

I have disabled WEP and only using MAC filtering and now it works fine...I guess I will keep it like this until I can figure out what exactly is wrong.
