Wireless KB/MS question

I just spent a chunk of change on a Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite set for use w/my HTPC.

HTPC in the equipment rack, me sitting on couch w/KB & MS on table in front of me. Life is good.

BUT, I read the instructions and this caught my eye:

Wireless keyboard and mouse may work up to six (6) feet away from the receiver...

May? MAY? WTF do you mean, "may?" :|

It had better work at more than 6 feet away; that's why I bought the damn thing.

At no time will the KB and mouse be more than about 12 feet away from the receiver. Will I be OK?

I was planning on putting the reciever on top of the HTPCs case, but I could put it on top of the equipment rack if that would help.

Thoughts?
 
i just tested this and my chieftec wireless KB works to about 20 feet away in a different room, cant test the mouse cause i cant see the curser from that far away

o and this KB cost me all of like 20$ im sure the more expensive ones work better
 
Thanks, Anubis. That makes me feel a lot better. MS just came out with this set, AFAIK. Hopefully, I have no probs.

BTW...In the weeks that've gone by, I've not found a better, more fitting quote for my sig. I just may make it permanent. 😀
