Wireless Internet ISP - Do not know this guy is bs or not.

Our office use a Wireless Internet connection. They utilize 2.4Ghz technology. We found that there is some down time which is very frustrating. And furthermore, its only a best effort service.

Then another ISP provider, which is Wireless too, claim that theirs is far more superior. They said they operate at a lisence 3.5 Ghz and with 3 level of security and best of all, they gurantee the bandwitdh.

Is it too good to be true? They claim that they can offer at least 4mbps...

while we only need 2mpbs up and 2 mpbs down for now.

Can a wireless technology perform close to Fibre?

There's a big difference in price between wireless and fiber connections. Spring leaves on a tree don't obstruct fiber, lightning doesn't strike fiber's antenna, wind doesn't move a fiber antenna, etc. Its apples and oranges, you can't even compare them 😀

You can get an affordable stable wireless connection though.

well, the seller claims that the capacity of wireless is comparable to fiber. And those DSL could not even compare to wireless technology.

The fact that they can gurantee bandwitdh, do you think its true? Can wireless technology really support 10Mpbs when we need it?

The capactity of fiber is much more than 10mpbs. I'm not familiar with any of the licensed spectrum equipment so you'd have to see what he has, but I would imagine 10mbps is well within its capabilities. What sort of bandwidth guarentee are you getting? Get a written SLA just like you would for a conventional link. You need 2 mbps now, if they can deliver a sla that you agree with, get it. If you grow to need 10 megs later you might find it cheaper to ditch wireless and buy your bandwidth directly from sprint/savvis/worldcom/etc.

At 3.5 ghz rain isn't really a factor. Trees of course would be, but they tend to be slow growing 😀 Don't shoot through a tree or spring will get you though of course.

he say its close to fibre... i forgot how fibre perform.

My point is, who cares? You're not going to be buying a 10 meg link through him, so even if its 100x faster what does it matter? It fits your needs now and if you need alot more bandwidth it probably won't be an ideal solution. My car may be capable of a higher top speed then someone elses but if you're just going the speed limit, how does it come into play? Get a good SLA and go for it.
