I have 3 computers in my house and i use a linksys wrt54g 2.4 ghz wireless-g router to network internet to them. 2 of the computers are connected to the router through ethernet and they work fine, but the 3rd computer uses a belkin wirless card. This 3rd computer(a dell with a p3 700mhz 384mb ram) keeps getting disconnected from the router and i am just wondering where the problem probably lies.

Im not sure if the wireless card is crappy, or if the router is faulty, or if there is some kind of interference. I do use a 2.4 ghz panasonic phone as well but it doesnt seem as though using it correlates to the disconections.

So anyway just wondering what is most likely the problem.

edit* computer is like 40 feet away from the router.

How is the signal? Did you search any of the other million threads on this subject? Are you sure the phone isn't a problem? It was for me.

Since the disconnects are so sporadic how do you tell if the phone is the problem? I guess i could try just disconnecting it for a day.

That would be a start. :p

I had an expensive and nice panasonic (I think) 2.4ghz phone and it caused problems all the time. I got a cheap unitech or something and it didn't cause any problems.

They're great phones. :p

Unplug it for a while and see if it has any affect before mourning its loss. ;)

Try changing the channels if you can...may help.....My 2.4ghz when turned off allowed my devices to receive about 4% greater strength of signal but overall is not having an effect...
