Wireless help plz (Xbox Live)

I have a Dlink 604+ router sharing my dsl connection to my laptop in my bedroom, which works fine. I've decided to go on xbox live so bought a cross over cable and connected the xbox to my laptop ethernet port.

The laptop is currently running XP home and I tried to bridge the connections with no luck. If I select DHCP for the bridge then no IP is given etc. If I select static then I can ping the xbox etc but not the wireless router. The router is 192.168.0.1, the laptop is 192.168.0.4 and the xbox is currently 192.168.0.10. The problem seems to be when i bridge the wireless connection it looses the connection to the router. Yet the laptop shows connected etc with good signal strength just no tcp/ip over the connection.

Any ideas to what I'm doing wrong would be great. I understand the Xbox will grab an IP from the dhcp running on the 604+ once the connection is working

Cheers

I assume you can't connect to the router directly. Try making your xbox ethernet connection static with the notebook's ip address as the gateway. Sounds like it should work....

I can tell you what is the best solution! However it is more costly than a cable.

Buy Linksys WET11, and plug it to XBox.

WET11 is a Driverless client card, and will turn your Box into Wireless capable.
