My desktop computer is setup wirelessly, but the connection is slow and sometimes very erratic, especially during online gaming. I'm on a mission to fix that problem. The router that I'm using is a D-Link 524, which I bought several years ago in my local small town electronics store (an incredibly stupid move, I know. Anytime time you're looking for a computer component and the stoned looking clerk with the cracking voice tells you they only carry one model so you'll have to buy that one, you know you're in trouble.) Anyway, I did some research online and it appears that even in its day the router was considered slow and undesirable, so I think the first step towards wireless gaming nirvana will be getting a new router. I was thinking of the Pre-N spec Belkin F5D8230-4 Wireless Router. From what I've read it's the fastest one available, but not always reliable. What do you guys think?
The other side of the story is that of the wireless adapter card. My MB is an Asus P5W DH Deluxe, which comes with a built in wireless 802.11b/g compatible antennae, and that's what I'm using. I wasn't able to find any data about the quality of it on the internet, but it seems unlikely that it would be that great of a product if Asus is giving them away for free, right? Do you guys have any recommendations as to the adapter card? Thanks a lot for the advice!
