wireless G worries

Last month I posted about looking into wireless G... and since I can't reply there, I had to start this new thread...

With all the "unknowns" with wireless G right now, what will make the instability go away ? Is it simply firmware releases ? Or will it have to be hardware dependent (new releases of G) ? If the case is that G can become as stable as the B spec now through firmware downloads, I may as well jump at it now...

Thoughts for and against ? Will the prices drop dramatically come Christmas time ? I'm looking at the Netgear combo for wireless G... router + PCCard for ~$100.

I do not know what your ?functional? definition of stability is.

Currently 802.11g Entry Level Wireless from D-Link. and Linksys are working as well as most Entry Level 802.11b.

Price will definitely fall by December.

How much? It depends on the number of new releases.

If you follow the trade news you would assume that by the end of the year there will be 50-100 new releases.

However learning from the past.

Some are probably bogus marketing announced.

Some are slated to the more expensive office, and business market. I.e. price range of $150-$500.

Many will be bad releases that will disappear in few weeks.

Under these circumstances I doubt that any one can predict above chance.
