Quote: "am surprised to see on Cnet that there are allot of bad reviews for this model"
When it comes to Entry Level I never saw an Item that does not get Negative, and many times Horrible Reviews. (The Lucent Orinoco Gold is may be the one exception).
Why?
Objectively!
The prices are so low that it is hard to believe that any of the Big players is making big money from selling them.
As a result the QA is really bad, a lot of time the variations between units of the same brand are bigger than the variation between bran.
Subjectively!
The marketing ploys are bordering with deception. People buy and get upset when it does not meet their expectations.
Most people are so ignorant about Network issues that they Sc*** Up even simple installations, and then blame the Hardware.
So what to do? First look here:

Your actual distance might be different. Indoor coverage depends heavily on the envioroment; graphs like this should be used to understand the relation in performance between Wireless hardware. .
And then buy the best value for the price that you can get. Try the Hardware immediately and return if it does not meet your expectations.
