okay, i want to do wireless file transer between two computers, we will name them computer a, and computer b.
computer a is wired via ethernet to the modem/wireless router combination (siemens speedstream 6520), computer b is on a linksys usb adapter.
i want to map a network drive so that i can just go in and copy paste between computers.

here are example ip addresses (they arent real, so dont try)
192.164.254.254 (router)
192.164.254.1 (computer b)
192164.254.5 (computer a)

anyway, so i tried this when mapping the network drive
\\192.164.254.5\C$
from computer b to connect to computer a...it did nothing
tried
\\192.164.254.254\C$
also did nothing...

what am i missing?

1. those are administrative shares....if you are using Xp home..you know what...forget about adminsitrative shares:p

Just share fodler on computer a (god forbid you decide to share the entire c: drive (it will yell at you too for doing something so careless, and on computer b, navigate to this adress in any address bar (internet explorer or windows explorer):

\\192.164.254.1 or \\nameofcomputerb

It will then lsit the shares. Verify that they work, and then right click on the folder you want to map, and click on 'map...."

okl i tried this. folders are shared, however the computers cannot find each other.

when i type the ip of the local computer it brings up all the shares, however when i type the ip of the networked computer it cannot find the ip. When i type the ip of the router, it goes into the admin for the router, and it shows all connected ips from there...what am i doing wrong?
