Wireless file server accessible by iPad or Android tablets

I want to install a wireless network in my car. The primary purpose is for tablets (iPad or Android) to access a file server that contains ripped DVDs. Does anyone know of any solutions?

I have a spare router with a USB port and a 1 TB drive with Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer videos in them already. I just need some software solution for an iPad or Android tablet that can interface with the USB drive.

The Gauntlet looks promising, indeed. This could be a permanent car solution, while a Wi-Drive or Air Stash may be more suitable for a fanny pack - for light travel.

Just FYI, I just discovered that Patriot actually released a newer version of the Gauntlet in March 2013. It is called the Aero and is supposed to be more stable and have a bit better battery life, but gives up the ability to use your own hard drive. The Aero is available as a 500GB or 1TB drive.
