Wireless extenders

Hi,

I am planning on extending coverage in my house of the wireless network.

Basically, a 802.11b wireless router is in my living room. My room and my brothers room are separated approximately 25 or so feet from the router by another room (office room) and walls, so that right in our rooms, we can't get wireless router coverage.

I was thinking of buying a wireless extender but it seems they are for 802.11g and for certain models only...

I'm not certain what other means I can extend the network beyond buying a 50ft / 100ft cable and running it on the walls (ugly), buying a big antennae for the original 802.11b router (rather not have some weird signal booster giving my family cell mutations)...

I would prefer setting up another wireless router closer to other rooms... is it possible to link up two different wireless routers to get more coverage?
