Wireless ethernet & ActiveSync...help!

I don't know if this is the right place for this so forgive me if it isn't. I am trying to get my iPaq 3635 to sync with my desktop over the wireless LAN we have at work. I have ActiveSync 3.5 installed on my machine and is working properly. I have a wireless PC Card installed and working in my iPaq (meaning I have internet access and can ping on the network). However when I try to do a network sync I get to the "Connected, needs updating" screen and then it hangs and eventually times out. I have tried manually entering my machine's IP address as the WINS address but no luck. (This is the "accepted" method of a network sync). We use DHCP here and the DHCP server auto-assigns a WINS server address to the card. Is this part of the problem? If so, is there a way around this? I have a wireless network at home, and can sync to my desktop with no problems (using the WINS trick, but obviously I don't have a WINS server at home so there are no conflicts there). If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it, I've tried everything!
