I hope this is the correct forum to discuss it, but do wireless electronics pose a health threat? I'm sure we've all heard the yeas and nays about cellular phones, but what about wireless routers and such? Is there a danger? Or is the threat miniscule?

Not sure what to make on this, except I was just staring at my wireless b router earlier today as the microwave machine turned on, causing my other two computers in the house to lose connectivity while the rice was heating up for 2 minutes. I know it runs on the 2.4 GHz frequency, the same as some cordless phones, but what does this all mean? What do you guys think?

This is a sensitive issue...

There isn't any wireless equipment at all, anywhere I have a hand in things. Why on earth should there be? People need to consider that this is a security problem as well.

Wireless is neat for people that have a 'mobile' work where they still need to be connected with a network. Nurses and MD in a hospital for instance. Or various plant and process managers in industry.
If you OTOH use it just for "getting rid of cables", then you're IMO a ...

- And cellular phones is a health problem. Right now, there is so much money in this, that this issue is very repressed. However, it is going to explode all over our faces, within a decade or two.
And yes, I have a cellular phone. But I don't use it for long idle conversations.

I was thinking about this myself . On the one hand they are not connected to the body , so better than mobile phones in this respect , But on the other hand they are emitting a signal , more similar to a mobile phone company's antennas ?

Ya I've actually googled up almost all of those threads/articles before posting up in here :) The main thing I'm worried about is, even if the output of wireless machines are really low, over time it all adds up. And the "don't worry wireless machines only give off signals when sending and receiving data" statement doesn't really assuage any worries, because all my computers are downloading and uploading, 24/7.

Plus, if we have several wireless machines going off at the same time, how does that add up for low level exposure? For example I know I can pick up atleast 3 other wireless networks in my home alone, besides mine. We all don't know what the negatives are/could be, and it's really gonna be hard to figure out what it does, especially with all the money in it, and especially if it affects different symptoms in different people.

Since so many people are exposed to wireless "radiation" as it is called, the easiest thing to do, I suppose, is to keep an eye on densely populated metropolitan areas where everything is wireless -- say Toyko. Everything, and I mean everything, is wireless there. If something is up, those metropolitan areas will be the first to report it, right?

Perhaps I am just needlessly worrying about things though. I've got tests, and taxes, and work to worry about as it is. Personally, I have no plans to stop using cell phones, or get rid of my wireless network. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be the next radon power drink.

My standard response - if you're worried about EM fields from electronic devices, don't venture outside. The EM radiation outside has been proven to cause skin cancer. Just sit outside from noon to 1pm on a sunny day. I'm sure you'll experience first-hand the unpleasant effects of all-natural ultraviolet radiation.
